CHARLES UNICE — Musical Director
Chuck is a graduate of Eastman School of Music where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. He went on to perform leading and comprimario roles in more than 10 full opera productions at Philadelphia’s prestigious Curtis Institute of Music where he received a Master of Music degree. Mr. Unice made his Carnegie Hall debut in November 2004 as Sid in La fanciulla del West, and has since performed there in the role of Jarno in Mignon, conducted by Eve Queler with the Opera Orchestra of New York. He is a seasoned concert musician, having sung to great acclaim the solos in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat and St. Matthew’s Passion, Mozart’s Mass in C and Requiem, and the Faure Requiem. Mr. Unice has completed Young Artist Residencies with both the Opera Theater of St. Louis and the Pittsburgh Opera. He made his 2005 Pittsburgh Opera debut in Rigoletto, and went on to perform Sciarrone in Tosca, a role that took him to the Hollywood Bowl to share the stage with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2006His most recent performance with the Pittsburgh Opera was in Francesca Zambello’s stunning and powerful production of Britten’s Billy Budd (2007). Chuck teaches voice to students ages 9 through adult at the Harris Conservatory for the Arts.
