The Joan Harris Centres tap program offers everything from the full foot stomp and low to the floor foot work of the hoofer to the light and airy flair of the tapper. The program, directed by Sean Harris who is currently teaching The History of Tap 101 in the dance and theater arts program at Wilkes University, features a strong discipline in both the correct techniques of the various forms of tap and their proper terminology, allowing the centres students to confidently take their education with them to any audition across the country.
A dancer studying tap at the Centre will be introduced to everything from Broadway style production numbers, Swing tap (flash steps), Funk style hoofing, Irish Step Dancing, song and dance routines and precision accapella numbers. Easily one of the most exciting disciplines of dance and certainly the loudest, tap students can always expect a fun and exhilarating class.
