Laura Cunningham Adjunct Instructor
Laura began studying dance under the direction of Joan Harris nearly sixteen
years ago. She is a certified instructor with the Dance Educators of America
Organization, achieving a perfect score on her exams. Laura has appeared in
countless Harris Centre productions and twice performed the lead role of
Princess Aurora in productions of the classic ballet "The Sleeping Beauty" in
1995 and 1999.
In 1996 she was awarded a full scholarship to study ballet at the Dance
Educators of America School for the Ballet Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada. Laura
has also earned her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of
Scranton where she graduated with honors.
She was invited attend the American Physical Therapy Association’s convention
in New Orleans to present her paper "The Effects of Exercise on Turnout in
Ballet Dancers" a program she developed at the studio. She also served her
internship with the Performing Arts Physical Therapy group in Manhattan where
she administered physical therapy to the cast members of the Broadway
musicals "Lion King," "Kiss Me Kate," "Cabaret," "Footloose," "Chicago" and
"Cats," actually working inside the theaters.
