Staff Bios



MARIA DUTT –
Instructor

Miss Maria has been studying dance at the Joan Harris Centre for the past 22 years. Throughout her career she has performed in hundreds of dances and numerous supporting roles including the role of Mercedes in the 2000 school production “Don Quixote”. She currently is a member of the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Pioneers Dance Team. Maria served as a stage manager for a production of Smokey Joe’s Café and worked for Broadway Bound, a touring theatrical company that choreographs shows for the Queen Elisabeth II cruise ship. She continues to stage manage all of the Joan Harris Centre’s major productions. Miss Dutt is a graduate of the Joan Harris 4-year teacher-training program working as an instructor first at the Centre and continuing to share her craft at the Dance Academy of State College for four years. Maria graduated from Penn State University, main campus, in May of 2004 where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Development/Children Youth and Family and received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Miss Dutt is a full-time teacher for the Wilkes-Barre Area School District and continues to work as a nurse’s aide at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
